in norway

The pristine, magnificent landscape of Norway’s mountains and wilderness is the setting for this adventure. Enjoying the outdoors regardless of the weather we will explore the beauty and power of the forests, fjords and fells, meadows and mountains. The Nordic Indian summer sets a scene of clear air and beautiful autumn colours.

On the skerries of Norway’s south coast, we will navigate and find our way on charts, fish and forage our dinner and choose an island on which to pitch our tents for the night.

Maps and compass lead us the way to the peak as we hike up the mountains, enjoying the views of lonely lakes of piercing blue we pass along the way.

On the west coast we will visit Folgefonna; the third largest glacier on mainland Norway and the heart of the national park. On our adventure into the valley, we will see the striking rockfall from a distance and explore the dramatic changes imposed on the landscape by natural forces throughout time.

During our travels we make good use of the Norwegian “right to roam” and spend the night in tents and cook our meals on an open fire or trangia. Some nights we may get a solid roof over our heads and enjoy hot water in the shower, but this is primarily an outdoor experience through and through! You will be rewarded with memorable experiences as well as new skills on how to safely navigate the Norwegian wilderness.

We cannot way to introducing you to the unique landscapes of Norway as well as the cultural differences and similarities between Danes and our neighbours to the north.

Travel costs on study tours abroad may increase
Silkeborg Højskole study tours are planned well ahead. However, in the current global economic climate price setting has proven difficult. Due to the uncertainty surrounding rising transport costs, some international study tours may suffer a price increase. We aim to adapt the total costs of the study tours to the changing circumstances and any price increase will be announced well in advance of departure.
