The listening club
The listening club is formed with the mission of qualifying the way we perceive music and the way we talk about music.
We will be listening to a varied musical genres and discuss if we like it or not. And most importantly we will practice explaining WHY we like it or not.
We will learn about musical terms such as dynamics, expression and density. We will study important albums and musical works that have influenced modern pop and rock music and we will seek the boundaries and listen to works that might even not be music.
We will also be discussing if creativity is merely a human attribute. Is AI-generated music creative? And will songwriters be replaced by bots in the near future?
The artists we will be listening to along the way will be very different. From Miles Davis to Nirvana, from Stockhausen to Kanye West. The genre is not important but the conversation around the music is.
This subject is taught primarily in English.
