The Voice Within The Body

Our voices are a vital part of human social life. We use our voices every day and in many different contexts, and it plays a significant role in our ability to express ourselves socially, artistically, and within society. At the same time, your voice is influenced by the state of your body – whether you are tired, stressed, happy, excited, or unwell.

Through singing, exercises, and theory this subject will bring you insight into your own voice and its connection to your body You will also become more aware of the voice of others. Every voice is unique and different, and no voice sounds more “correct” than another.

In each class, you can look forward to:

  • Strengthening and training your body with yoga- and Pilates-inspired exercises
  • Singing a lot
  • Developing a healthier voice practicing vocal and singing techniques
  • Learning about the theories behind vocal physiology and function
  • Discussing topics related to the voice: its connection to personality, identity, society, cultures, mental states, and more.

This subject does not require you to be a good singer. You only need the courage to use your voice in class.
