In the jewellery workshop, you will explore the language of form in jewellery and experiment with different materials - both traditional and more unconventional ones. You’ll learn basic jewellery-making techniques and gain insight into various design processes. At the same time, we’ll broaden our understanding of what a piece of jewellery can be, how it can look, and which materials it can be made from.
We will alternate between structured and open assignments, inspired by shared presentations, individual exercises, and introductions to specific techniques. We will work with copper, brass, and silver, and depending on the task, also with alternative materials such as found objects, fabric/yarn, wood, or something else entirely. You’ll receive a broad introduction to metal-forming techniques such as soldering, sawing, forging, and sand casting, as well as surface finishing and patination.
