Design Your Own Stay
At Silkeborg Højskole, we offer a wide range of main subjects, existential subjects, and electives. The selection changes every semester. Main subjects are fixed, while the offerings for existential subjects and electives vary – some courses are replaced, and new ones are added. You choose your subjects after arrival by listing your 1st to 3rd priority. We always do our best to match as many first choices as possible.
Main subject
Your main subject allows you to explore and evolve within your specific field of interest. You choose your main subject for the duration of the semester. Main subjects are primarily taught in Danish but English translation will be provided.
Existential subjects
Existential subjects explore different aspects of human life and interaction. We aim for the students to reflect on and gain knowledge of the existential wonders of life. The list of existential subjects is dynamic and updated each semester. Most existential subjects are taught in Danish but English translation will be provided. However, each semester you will also find several subjects taught in English with Danish translation.
Elective subjects
Elective subjects often have a practical, physical or creative scope. You may choose subjects that relate to your main subject or you can go down completely new paths exploring new talents. The list of elective subjects is dynamic and updated each semester. Most Elective subjects are taught in Danish but English translation will be provided. However, each semester you will also find several subjects taught in English with Danish translation.
