HIGHWAY 61
Setting out on Highway 61; The Blues Highway we will drive from Memphis to New Orleans and along the way encounter many of the similarities and differences between American and Danish mentality. E.g. why do you have to be 21 to buy a Bud Light when you can drive a car at 16 and buy a shotgun on the street at 18?

THE BIRTHPLACES OF BLUES AND JAZZ
W.C. Handy, B.B. King and Elvis are examples of stars that all came out of Memphis; “The birthplace of blues” while New Orleans is recognised as “The birthplace of Jazz” based on its affiliation with pioneers like Louis Armstrong, Dr. John and Sidney Bechet.

We will feel the presence of history reading Johannes V. Jensen’s “På Memphis station” at Memphis station. We will cruise the great Mississippi River and listen to traditional jazz while eating barbecue ribs and drinking Coke from big red plastic mugs filled with ice cubes.

This and more is in store for you if you choose to travel with us to Memphis and New Orleans.
